I have noticed that the gardening is springing to life, The Garlic, Onion, Carrots, beetroot, I’ve already planted is showing signs of life. This is the time of year that you really start to see the benefits of all the effort you put in to your garden.

So you get a post about gardening instead of my crafts for a change

I have weeded and dug over one of the veg beds , plenty of worms and other mini beasts in the soil.

I too out some seeds with me and i planted up two rows of carrots and a row of beetroots to get the ball rolling. On the window sill in the kitchen are 8 Tomato plants some goes outside and some going in the greenhouse. I also bought yesterday a plant pot of sweet corn.

The carrots i planted are 4 different varieties

Baby R, Knitting and projects, Gardening and Recycling

Baby R

Well since R was born it’s been all go, not really a minute for myself but as with this is the life of a New mum and we must life with it.

Since last posting R has …..

• Discovered he has interesting things at the bottom of his legs (his feet)
• he’d discovered the things at the end of his arms can be directed aimed in to peoples faces with his sharp talons fingernails.
• and that they can be used to grab things and generally throw them in a direction where said person who is holding him at the time can’t reach.
• Growing his first teeth (one and two bottom middle).
• Just recently he showing the whites of numbers three and four at the top middle.
• Finding his baby voice (well loud gurgles, screams and over odd noises)
• Almost sitting up on his own
• Eating more ‘adult’ food

As you can see from the list above i’ve been quite busy with knitting scarf’s the scarf are either going in to the regifiting box for christmas presents or the charity bag.

I also have some projects that i have planned for others or myself to be completed.

Gardening

On the garden front the weather has been SOOOO bad i haven’t been able to get out and do any gardening at all at this rate i will be needing to wait until May then i can get any seedlings in to the garden as we have had multiply types of weather from monsoons style rain to blizzard snow, Some days Mother earth has been kidding on and pretending that it is a spring day and fools us in to the fact that we might be able to put a washing out on the line but then reminds us that it’s an April fools trick and brings the rain to spoil our fun.

Recycling

On a Recycling point am still trying my best to prevent as much as possible going in to landfill from our house.

All plastics/cardboards/tins/foil and tins can go in to our Big blue wheelie bin , the glass goes in to our small plastic box and the garden waste goes in to our brown wheelie bin and kitchen waste get put in to our own compost bins via a compost caddie (which i can’t find as the 60 mile winds a couple of days ago stole it and havn’t returned it to me yet, must hunt around the garden for it at some point) . I tend to get a lot of overflown from recyclable items so i bag the everything up apart from the cardboard and take it to our local tesco’s recycle machine and this helps me get rid of the extra stuff and I also recycle the stuff that (if my husband had is way would end up going in to the landfill bin.  Our bins get empted once a alternative week , I was putting a bin bag in the landfill bin every fortnight now am trying to get it down to once a month. I do uses disposable nappies as for baby R the reusable one just don’t work, And it creates a lots of mess on cloth and other fabric that just doesn’t clean out and being ‘thrown out’ .

On that note i better stop as Baby R has woken from his slumber and needs some grub other wise he’ll start eating my hand and then the arm , well i guess you get the picture.

Well these are a couple of things I have done.

In the picture above you have the basic chain, double crochet, and treble Crochet

In the above picture is my first big pieces of Crochet is a scarf which has a hole (part of the pattern) which you pull the other end though , so it doesn’t blow away in the wind when you have your hands full.
